Codec

A codec is how the video is compressed into a file. For a final web or client file, H.264 (or H.265) is the normal choice: small, high-quality, plays everywhere. For a high-quality master to archive or re-edit, use a mezzanine codec like ProRes or DNxHR — bigger files, near-lossless. Resolve ships presets for all of them; start from a preset and tweak.
