Mid-detail

Mid-detail is a slider in Resolve’s primary controls that raises or lowers the mid-frequency texture in an image — the band of detail between fine grain and broad shapes. Pull it negative to soften harshness and calm busy skin without the full smear of heavy noise reduction; push it positive to add crispness and apparent sharpness. It plays directly against sharpening and NR: denoise can leave an image slightly soft, and a touch of positive mid-detail (or added grain) brings back a sense of texture. Like all repair moves, it is easy to overcook — a little reads as crisp, a lot reads as electronic.
