XML / AAF / EDL
XML, AAF and EDL are interchange files that describe a timeline — which clip, which in/out points, what order, and some effects — without carrying the media itself. XML comes from Premiere and Final Cut; AAF from Avid Media Composer (it carries the most, including many effects and reframes); EDL is the oldest and simplest, essentially a list of cuts and timecodes. Whichever you receive, you conform it against the camera originals in Resolve.
