Power window
A power window is a shape you draw on the frame — a circle, square, linear, or custom Bézier curve — to isolate a region so a grade only affects that area. It is the masking half of secondaries, the complement to the qualifier’s color-based keying, and the two combine freely: a window can trim what a qualifier over-grabs, or subtract an unwanted object. Soften its edge so the boundary is invisible, invert it for a vignette that darkens only the frame’s edges, and pair it with the tracker so it follows a moving subject.
